Many of you have encountered the term N95 during your search for Covid-19 protection, however you probably still have some questions. This designation comes from the US National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and describes the ability of a device to protect the wearer from particulate matter in air.

Most of you have now heard of the latest SARS-COV-2 variant, Omicron. Omicron was named a Variant of Concern (VOC) by the World Health Organization (WHO) on the 26th of November 2021. After Alpha, Beta, Gamma and more recently, Delta – Omicron is the fifth WHO-named variant.

Graphene has been in the face mask news recently, and there’s still some confusion regarding this important topic. First the basics, graphene is a nanomaterial consisting of a hexagonal lattice of carbon atoms. These atoms of carbon are in a single layer giving graphene some very interesting chemical and physical properties.

You may have seen graphs or media reports referring to R, the reproduction number; however, if you are like most people, you probably still have a few questions. In this blog post we’ll try to explain this concept and how it is relevant to the current pandemic. At the most basic level, R is the number of new cases of an infectious disease generated by a single case.
